In addition to working as a psychologist, Dr. Hindes is the Associate Dean of the Doctor of Counselling & Psychotherapy program at Yorkville University. She has extensive teaching experience in research, statistics, assessment, ADHD, mental health, resilience, and child development. Dr. Hindes has attended, as well as presented at, national and international conferences.

The Canadian Code of Ethics for Psychologists was developed in 1986; since this time, it has evolved and been revised to reflect the growth and changes to the professional field of psychology. The Code identifies ethical principles, values, and standards that serve as a guide for the professional activities of psychologists, including assessments. Despite this, psychologists often face dilemmas, some of which are not easily resolved, and in some cases, complaints are made to psychologists’ regulatory bodies. Moreover, with the emergence and ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, virtual therapy and assessments have become more common, resulting in psychologists having to navigate and reflect on ethical practices and challenges related to virtual services. This workshop will provide an overview of common ethical challenges and complaints and relevant ethical considerations for psychologists engaging in both online and in-person assessment practices.
